Each monthly favorites roundup features a collection of products (usually makeup, skincare, hair and fashion) that I have been reaching for the most throughout the past month.
August has been more mild than normal this year, but there have still been some steamy days mixed in. I’ve been favoring a lighter-for-summer-level of coverage and relying on color a bit more to achieve a more polished look.
By the recommendation of a makeup artist at my local Sephora, I’ve been using the Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation. It is enriched with Ruscus Extract and Vitamin E while offering SPF 22. It claims to energize skin by stimulating microcirculation and targeting dullness to instantly improve the look your skin’s brightness and luminosity, while the Vitamin E protects against free radicals. The jury is still out there, but I can attest to the weightless finish and refreshed, radiant look.
It is rare that I forsake my beloved Beautyblender for another foundation application tool, but the Sephora Collection Pro Foundation Brush #47 has been on repeat since I purchased it. Earlier this month I attended a Sephora Flawless Foundation with Color IQ Class at Sephora. (If you have not had the opportunity to participate in one of their classes, I cannot recommend it enough!) We used this brush to apply foundation and I was immediately sold. I tend to steer clear of foundation brushes because I am always left with noticeable brush strokes. That is not at all the case with this brush-it provides an airbrushed finish on par with what I achieve with a Beautyblender.
With the remenants of my “tan” my usual neutral blush wasn’t standing out on my skin tone as much as I would like, so I have been reaching for Sephora Collection Blush in 04 Love at First Sight Pink.
On my eyes, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown and It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara have been helping my lashes to appear…existent. I have occasionally put down my Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette in favor of my Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette lately.
My hair and I are having relationship struggles. I’m trying to grow it out and it is fighting me every step of the way. So, as far as hair goals go lately, I am just trying to look at least slightly better than a wet dog. That’s it. Seriously. I have thrown everything I have at it while still trying to keep it healthy. To that end, my primary weapons have been Got 2b Fat-Tastic Thickening Plumping Mousse and Bumble and bumble Bb. Strong Finish Firm Hold Hairspray. I’m still using Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner.
I went into post-summer skin repair mode this month. (Yes, I realize August is still summer. But I’m done with summer now and wish it gone.) The incessant layers of sunscreen have gotten the best of my skin and I’m trying to get a handle on the madness. I use Nip + Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme post-cleanse. In the morning, I follow with Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C Plus E Ferulic Acid Serum. If I plan to venture out into the world, I will follow with Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum and then top it off with EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46.
In the evening, I alternate between First Aid Beauty FAB Skin Lab Resurfacing Liquid 10% AHA and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Overnight Serum, followed by CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM. When I feel like an overachiever, I top things off with Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Max Sleeping Mask before I go to bed.
As always, I’ve included the items mentioned in a gallery below. You can also click on the links above to go directly to the detail page of each product. What products are you loving lately?
