Each monthly edit features a collection of things that I have been using and loving the most throughout the past month. (More often than not, in the arena of makeup, skincare, hair and fashion.)
Kat Von D Palette – I have been desperate for an all matte, neutral palette and picked this one up during the Sephora VIB Sale. It is everything I hoped it would be! This is my first go at purchasing anything from Kat Von D and the formula is just creamy enough and easy to blend. (I did receive her cult fav eyeliner in a previous Sephora Monthly Subscription Box and it is really good – but I personally prefer a gel eyeliner applied with a brush.)
The Buxom Full-on Lip Polish – This gloss is everything. I have always loved their lip plumping formula and it happened to be marked down to $10 during the sale – so just $8 out the door! I have alternated between Sarina and Clair all month.
YSL All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation – This foundation took over the internet and I fell victim to the hype. After seeing it reviewed repeatedly, I went to Sephora to be color matched and to have a week’s worth of a sample made. It is so good that I promptly booted Marc Jacobs Beauty Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate off my shopping list for the sale and bought this instead. While I was checking out a woman stopped me in line to ask if it was the same foundation I was wearing, because she was looking for a foundation that looked like skin and not makeup. Enough said.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim – I have coveted this product for a disturbingly long time. It is spendy, but that is because you are purchasing a compact filled with magic. And, you know, magic isn’t cheap. The best way I have heard this described is; “it’s like walking around with your own personal lighting crew.” Sign me up.
Gibson Tie Sleeve Cozy Fleece Top – I snagged two of these during the Nordstrom Black Friday Sale when they were an additional 20% off the already discounted sale price. They are still on sale and come in 8 colors. (I bought light heather gray and oatmeal.) It is a great looking dolman tunic with ruched sleeves and ties made of the coziest softened fleece I have ever touched. It’s very much a “dress it up or dress it down” piece. I know these will take me well into Spring!
Hudson Jeans Women’s Signature Bootcut Flap Pocket Jean – I purchased these way back in July on Amazon Prime Day. I think I scored them for around $50. I put them on and immediately thought, “Well, I am now officially ruined by anything less than designer quality denim for the rest of my life.” The things they do for your butt is amazing. I am generally against any sort of decoration/bedazzling/embroidery on the rear of my jeans, but the flap pockets are incredibly flattering. They are only an 8 inch rise in front (13 inch back rise), so I was surprised at how comfortable they were given that I tend to go with a higher front rise. They do run a bit long. I’m 5’8 and I need to wear about a 2 inch heel with these to keep them from dragging – and then they just hit the ground. (Which is how I prefer boot cuts fall.) Otherwise, they seem to run TTS.
*I realize that these may seem pricey to some. In a future post, I plan to delve a bit more into why you should consider investing in quality denim. As for me, I have one pair of skinny jeans and one pair of bootcut jeans at any given time. That’s it. I go to great lengths to care for them and purchase them only when on sale or pre-owned from poshmark.com. They will be with me for years to come and hold their shape impeccably.
Ashland Jar Candle from Michaels – After raving to a girlfriend the other day about the throw and burn time of these, I realized I have never shared them here. This is the only candle that we buy. The scents are amazing, they seem to burn forever and I only pay around $3 for each one! They seem to only sell them in-store, but this link will take you to a page that shows them. At the time of this post, they are on sale for $3.33 each. I have been burning Vanilla Creme and Pumpkin Pecan all month long. Because I like the house to constantly smell like a bakery…while I continue to try and avoid eating suger…the irony is not lost on me.
What have you all been into lately? I’d love to hear your suggestions or even products that you would be interested in having me review for you!
